What is the worst that can happen?
Hello friends,
It’s Monday Again and this week I want to share a little tip with you that gets me through periods of anxiety or when I’m struggling to make decisions.
I attribute this to why I am so adaptable and resilient, it’s a tool I’ve used a lot of the past few years when faced with so much uncertainty and having to pivot more times than I can count!
It’s a 5 step process based around the question of What’s the worst that could happen? I hope it’s useful for you.
1- Ask yourself, “What’s the worst that could happen?”
Really tune in with your worst-case scenario, write it all down, go deep, right to the bottom of your fear bucket and write it all down.
2- How likely are these scenarios to happen?
Rate them on a scale of 1-10 of probability. Be honest and don’t let fears or magical thinking get in the way.
3- How will you deal with them if they do?
Write down all of the things you could do to help you cope and manage with these scenarios.
4- Flip the script- what’s the best possible outcome?
Write down everything that could happen based on your decision, go deep, right to the bottom of your dream bucket and write it all down.
5- Reflect, read and notice.
Do the pros outweigh the cons and write down how you feel about it now.
I’d love to know if it works for you or if you’ve used this practice before <3
